Lip filler

A proportion-led approach to shape, balance and hydration, with restraint at the centre.

Lip treatment at AMEND is built gradually. Before deciding how much product, if any, is appropriate, we look at your lips in relation to the rest of your face: the nose, the chin and the balance between upper and lower lip.

Starting with a smaller amount and reviewing before adding more is often the most natural route. The aim is lips that look like yours on a good day, not a different shape.

Suitability

Suitable for adding subtle definition, hydration or balance to the lips. Volume is built gradually rather than in one large step.

What to expect

Natural-looking added definition and hydration. Results typically last 6–9 months, depending on the product used and how your body breaks it down.

Downtime

Swelling is common for 24–72 hours and more noticeable than in other areas. Your final result is visible once swelling settles.

Aftercare and safety

Every filler appointment includes written aftercare and a direct number to call if you have any concerns. If filler placed at AMEND ever needs correcting for clinical reasons, there is no charge for that care.

Treatment is subject to consultation and clinical suitability. Results vary between individuals and no treatment can guarantee a particular result.

Lip filler: your questions answered

If your question isn’t here, bring it to your consultation, or call or WhatsApp 07522 633970.

How much lip filler will I need?

Most first treatments use 0.5ml or 1ml. We often start with less and review before adding more, because the most natural results are usually built gradually. The amount is agreed with you at consultation, never on the spot.

Will my lips look natural?

That is the aim of every lip treatment at AMEND. We plan around the proportions of your face, including the balance between the upper and lower lip, so the result looks like your lips on a good day rather than a different shape.

Does lip filler hurt?

Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Most fillers contain a local anaesthetic (lidocaine), and a numbing cream can be applied beforehand to keep you comfortable.

How long does lip filler last?

Typically 6–9 months. The lips move constantly, so filler here tends to break down faster than in areas such as the chin or jawline. It varies with the product used and your own metabolism.

How long does lip filler swelling last?

Swelling is common for 24–72 hours and is usually more noticeable the morning after treatment. Your final result is visible once it settles, which is why your review appointment is booked for after this point.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is a prescription medicine and requires an assessment by a prescriber. If filler placed at AMEND ever needs correcting for clinical reasons, there is no charge for that care.

Who carries out my treatment?

Sean Casey, an HCPC-registered paramedic (PA058400) with frontline 999 experience, carries out your consultation, treatment and review himself. Sean is registered with the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), AMEND is insured with Hamilton Fraser Cosmetic Insurance, and we treat adults over 18 only.
